Zanesville Campus to host free film premiere

Chaos in Rhythm, a team comprised of Ohio University Zanesville alumni and their colleagues, will host a free premiere for the short film, "Consequence of Sound," at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, in Elson Hall Auditorium on the Zanesville Campus.

The event, sponsored by the Zanesville Campus Electronic Media Club, will feature the film presentation; a music video by DayFly to accompany their full-length album; a video by Local Light, a project that puts the spotlight on local artists; and a video interview with Robert Leland Taylor, an actor and award-winning writer who recently published "Holy Toledo and the Virgin Shirley."
"Consequence of Sound" is about a musical duo struggling to make it in the music business. While overcoming this trial, Floyd and Nova discover a strange way to communicate and a new perspective on success.

This story parallels Chaos in Rhythm's struggle to become professional filmmakers. One of the most telling lines in the film is, "We're waiting to have time!"

Filmed in several local businesses in Zanesville in 2012 and completed in 2013, the 29-minute short has been entered into the Cleveland International Film Festival and the Philip K. Dick European Festival of Science Fiction, Science, the Fantastic, Horror and the Supernatural, to be considered in New York. All but one of the musical tracks in the film are original works by DayFly, fronted by Justin Rose and Julie Rose.

Through their work the team hopes to bring diverse talents together, to inspire others to achieve their dreams and to challenge people to create their own happiness doing what they love. In addition, they hope the project will challenge perspectives on geography.

"Most of the production team members are former students of Ohio University's Zanesville campus, where they studied communication, media and film. Now they have chosen the campus to premiere their short film. I am extremely proud of this group of filmmakers and what they have done. It is gratifying they chose to come back to Ohio University Zanesville to premiere their new film," said Rick Shriver, associate professor in electronic media at Ohio University Zanesville.
