Several facilities advisories in effect for Athens Campus

Transportation and Parking Services would like to notify the University community of the following lane closure:

University Terrace will temporarily close for a period of approximately four weeks due to scheduled work at the Master Housing Plan project site. The closure will be in place beginning Dec. 16, 2013 and will continue until Jan. 10, 2014.

The closure will affect the stretch of roadway south of parking lot 83 (near Clippinger Laboratories) and continue to the intersection of South Green Drive (near the Ping Recreation Center). Both parking lot 83 and 84 (near the Clippinger Research Annex building) will remain open during this time.

Motorists will be detoured along South Green Drive, to North McKinley Avenue, to East Mulberry Street, to Stewart Street and will join University Terrace at the intersection near Scott Quad. Signage will be posted during the closure on University Terrace and South Green Drive.

A portion of East Green Drive near Morton Hall will need to be closed at 7 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 26, due to emergency repairs to replace the main sewer line leaving Morton Hall. While this section of the roadway is closed access may be granted through Morton Parking Lot (Lot 90). Staff will be in the area to assist with traffic flow. East Green Drive is anticipated to be open by 5 p.m.

South Green Drive will be restricted to one lane while mechanical/electrical work is completed on the Walter Fieldhouse. This work will take place from Monday, Nov. 25, through Friday, Dec. 6. Flaggers will direct east bound and west bound traffic during the construction.

Also, sections of the campus will be affected by a proposed electrical power outage. Beginning Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 a.m. the electrical power to the following buildings will be shut down: Porter Hall, Walter Hall, and Grover Center. The power outage is expected to last 1 to 2 hours.

Beginning Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 a.m. the electrical power to the following buildings will be shut down: Ping Center and Golf & Tennis Clubhouse. The electrical power outage is required to safely pull new power cable from the Walter Fieldhouse to the Ping Center. The power outage is expected to last 10 to 12 hours.

In the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 29, there will be a second power outage affecting Porter Hall, Walter Hall, and Grover Center for approximately 1 to 2 hours to restore power to Ping Center and Golf & Tennis Clubhouse. This second outage will happen between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The electrical power outage is subject to weather conditions. If below normal temperatures are forecasted the power outage will be re-scheduled.

Return any comments or temporary electrical power requirements to David Brown PE of Design and Construction Department via email brownd5@ohio.edu or telephone at 740-593-0095.

The power to Galbreath Chapel will be shut down on Monday, Dec. 2, to allow the primary feed cable to be secured in the tunnel.
The shutdown will start at 7 a.m. and be finished by 12 p.m. The shutdown will not affect any other buildings.
