Halloween parking restrictions take effect at 3 p.m. Friday

Temporary parking passes for football game expire at 10 p.m. Saturday

Halloween parking restrictions on Ohio University's Athens Campus will take effect at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, and continue through 7 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, and Parking Services is reminding the OHIO community that visitor parking will not be allowed on University property during those times.

The annual Halloween block party, which will be held Saturday in uptown Athens, is not an Ohio University-sanctioned event. While the University recognizes that many of its students participate in this event, parking in University lots this weekend will be limited to faculty, staff and currently enrolled students who have been issued a current and valid parking permit.

Parking in University lots

In order to park in a University lot this weekend, a current and valid Ohio University faculty/staff or student permit must be clearly displayed on a vehicle's rearview mirror. This does not include student employee permits or permits that are restricted to specific times.

Vehicles that do not display the proper permit will be cited and towed at the owner's/driver's expense. Where a vehicle is towed depends on where it was located. A tow zone map is available online.

Baker University Center parking

The Baker University Center garage will be closed to the public at 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. It will remain closed until 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27. The garage will only be open to individuals who have been issued reserved permits. Any vehicles that remain in the garage after 7 p.m. on Friday will be towed at the owner's/driver's expense.

Parking for Saturday's football game, Friday's hockey game

Those attending Saturday's Ohio University football game will be issued a temporary game day parking ticket by the attendants staffing the parking lots in the vicinity of Peden Stadium. Those parking tickets must be clearly displayed on the vehicle's dashboard and are valid until 10 p.m. that night. Vehicles displaying those parking tickets after 10 p.m. will be ticketed/towed.

Individuals who have season passes must display their season pass on the dashboard of their vehicle to avoid being ticketed/towed. Season pass holders' vehicles may remain in those parking lots until 10 p.m. Saturday. Parking after 10 p.m. will result in being ticketed/towed.

Those attending Friday's Ohio University hockey game may park in Lots 132 (Peden Stadium) and 134 (Walter Hall) only. Parking will be available in these lots until 11 p.m. on Friday. Parking in these lots after 11 p.m. will result in being ticketed/towed.

Where can I park if I don't have a permit?

Ohio University does not sell parking within any University lots, including the West Union Street Office Center (HDL Center), during Halloween weekend. Anyone approached by an individual offering to sell them a parking permit in a University lot for the Halloween weekend should immediately contact the Ohio University Police Department at 740-593-1911.

Halloween weekend parking is available at the Athens County Fairgrounds on West Union Street, beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25. The cost for the entire weekend (Friday to Monday) is $10 per car. A shuttle back and forth from the fairgrounds to Buffalo Wild Wings in uptown Athens and the Convocation Center on the Athens Campus will run from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday. The cost is $1 each way.

Visitors may also park in the Athens City Parking Garage on Washington Street.

There will be no parking allowed on Mill, Oak and Kurtz Streets over the weekend.
