Voting for Homecoming king, queen begins today

Voting ends at noon on Friday, Oct. 11

The Ohio University Homecoming Court has been selected, and now it’s time for the OHIO student body to determine who will serve as this year’s Homecoming king and queen.

Voting for OHIO’s Homecoming king and queen begins at 8 a.m. today (Oct. 7) – the first day of Homecoming Week – and ends at noon on Friday, Oct. 11. Remember, you can only vote once.

This year’s Homecoming Court is made up entirely of seniors, and about 30 seniors applied to serve on the court. After interviewing the nominees, five men and five women were chosen to represent the University on the 2013 Homecoming Court.

Members of the Homecoming Court are students who promote the values of Ohio University, take pride in the University, represent the student body and enhance the University as a whole.

“This year we had a very tough choice in that all of our candidates were excellent,” said Brian Heilmeier, assistant director of student activities. “Overall, I think that we have a well-rounded court, and I think it will be another tough choice for the student body.”

Voting for Homecoming king and queen is being done entirely online at ohio.edu/homecoming/homecoming-court.cfm, making it easy for all Bobcats to participate.

This year’s king and queen will be announced during Saturday’s Homecoming football game at 2 p.m. at Peden Stadium. They will be crowned by Jennifer Neubauer, assistant vice president of alumni relations and executive director of the Ohio University Alumni Association (OUAA), and William Hilyard, chair of the OUAA and alumni representative for the Ohio University Board of Trustees. After being crowned, the Homecoming king and queen will be invited up to the President’s Box at Peden Stadium.

This year’s Homecoming celebration – celebrating “OUr Past, OUr Present, OUr Future” – begins today with the official kickoff planned from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Baker University Center. Stop in the second floor for FREE Athens-themed food!
