AFSCME reaches new contract agreement with University

On Friday, University Human Resources sent the following email to the University community:
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,
I am happy to report to you that members of AFSCME Local 1699 have accepted a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The new agreement is effective March 1, 2013 through March 1, 2016.
AFSCME represents approximately 511 skilled trade and service employees at the Athens campus, 17 at the Zanesville campus and 11 at the Chillicothe campus.
Highlights of the new CBA include:
- Changes in language to implement the University's RCM initiative
- Wage increase of 2% in the first year
- Increase in insurance contributions by the employees and a commitment to work together on an overall benefits strategy in anticipation of the Affordable Care Act implications
I would like to recognize the efforts of both bargaining teams to reach an agreement in a positive and timely manner.
Our AFSCME member employees are an important part of the continued success of this university and we look forward to their continued contributions.
