From staff reports
The ninth annual Majors Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
The Majors Fair is designed to provide information on academic programs and to answer questions about choosing a major. Deans, assistant deans, and faculty will be present to provide information and answer questions. Attendees include current Ohio University students from all colleges and majors, as well as prospective students from regional high schools.
Choosing a major can be a challenging task for many college students. Within its nine undergraduate colleges, the university offers more than 270 majors. The Majors Fair gives students a place to go for help in exploring these majors, as well as minors and certificate programs. Based on student evaluations from last year's Majors Fair,
• 51% of the student attendees reported that they narrowed their choice of a major
• 10% declared their major
• 5% declared a minor.
Students can also visit the fair and learn about:
• studying abroad
• academic resources on campus
The Majors Fair is a university-wide event planned by a committee that includes faculty, staff, and students.
