Celebration performance hosted by Vanessa Bell Calloway

Ohio University’s College of Fine Arts is celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and invites the University community to be a part of it.

The celebration’s theme is "Inspiring Lives," and has been planned with alumni and friends in mind.

The 75th Celebration Weekend will take place April 13-15 with open houses, receptions, performances and concerts. The weekend events will culminate with the College of Fine Arts Celebration Performance in Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium at 8 p.m. on April 14. The performance will honor the College of Fine Arts faculty who have inspired the lives of their students and forever influenced the legacy of Ohio University.

The evening will be hosted by acclaimed actress and College of Fine Arts alumna Vanessa Bell Calloway. Throughout her career, she has appeared in multiple TV shows, films, and Broadway performances. Her film roles include What's Love Got to Do With It, Coming to America, Daylight, and Cheaper by the Dozen. As an accomplished dancer, Calloway was in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls. She is currently back in production as Gail Strummer in her role on TNT’s TV series Hawthorne RN.

Saturday’s program will showcase a mix of world-class performances of dance, film, theater and music. The performances will feature readings from the award winning play Marvin's Room, performance of Peter Jarjisian's choral piece “I Have a Dream” with Ohio University President Roderick J. McDavis, Mark Phillip's composition of “Dreams Interrupted” performed by the University orchestra, a film about Athens legend and arts Professor Aethelred Eldridge, and a salute by world renowned visual artist Jenny Holzer.
