From staff reports
On Monday, the Honorary Degree committee issued a call for suggestions for candidates to receive honorary degrees from Ohio University.
Dear Ohio University Community,
On behalf of the Honorary Degree committee, I am seeking your suggestions for candidates to receive honorary degrees from Ohio University. Recognition with an Honorary Degree is understood to be a very substantial honor. It is our impression that the form we have employed in the past is cumbersome, and might limit the number of submissions. So this year, we would like to suggest a two-stage process, which we hope will generate more ideas.
First, send any member of the committee (names and emails below) a short (about 1/2 page) description of the candidate. Indicate briefly why the candidate is suitable. This might include information like academic or professional experience, why the candidate is genuinely outstanding, important recognitions the candidate has already received, and previous links to Ohio University, if any.
The committee will then screen these nominations and in step 2, follow up with requests for full nominations. We ask that the first submission be completed by Dec. 15.
The committee members this year are:
David Drabold, firstname.lastname@example.org
Willie Gist, email@example.com
Damian Nance, firstname.lastname@example.org
Mona Robinson, email@example.com
Brendan Moore, firstname.lastname@example.org
Erin Nunn, email@example.com
Connie Romine, firstname.lastname@example.org
We appreciate your help!
Chair, Honorary Degree Committee
