From staff reports
On Monday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 a.m., Ohio University police officers responded to a report of a fire at Foster House.
Upon arrival, they discovered a small fire in a dryer in the ground floor laundry room of the building. The building was evacuated and the Athens Fire Department responded to contain and extinguish the fire. No one was hurt and damage was limited to the dryer itself.
A joint investigation by the Ohio University Police Department (OUPD) and the State Fire Marshal’s Office has determined the fire was intentionally set. Anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the time of the fire, or who has any other information relevant to the investigation, is urged to contact OUPD or the State Fire Marshal’s Office immediately at one of the numbers listed below. Investigators are not ruling out the possibility that this fire may be connected to the fire at True House on Oct. 19.
A Blue Ribbon Arson Reward of up to $5000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for any information leading to the identification of the person(s) responsible for the fire.
