Russ College alumni recognized with Alumni Association awards

The Ohio University Alumni Association presented two Russ College alumni with medal of merit awards at Homecoming. Carla E. Lucchino, MSIS '82, and Everett Louis "Louie" Overstreet, BSCE '67, were honored achieving distinction in their chosen fields.

Lucchino, assistant for administration to the secretary of the navy, is the highest-ranking career civilian in the Department of the Navy. She has held a multitude of positions during her 29-year career in the Defense Department, earning her a host of awards.

Lucchino has remained an active alumna as a member of the Russ College Board of Visitors and as speaker for the Robe Leadership Institute. She also volunteers her time with students to aid them in the search for career opportunities in government service.

Overstreet, currently transition CEO for Ralph Tyler Companies in Cleveland, Ohio, has worked to build communities and to create opportunities for small minority-owned businesses. In addition, he has taught engineering and technical writing for Carnegie Mellon, and authored two history books and more than 500 opinion columns on economic development, politics and race relations.

Overstreet remains active with the University community, serving on the Department of Civil Engineering Advisory Board of the Russ College and the Ohio University Alumni Association Board of Trustees.

The awards were presented at the alumni awards gala on Friday, Oct. 14.
