From staff reports
On Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15, Ohio University Libraries
will add to the pomp and pageantry of the 2011 Ohio University Homecoming season by welcoming past, present and future students, faculty, staff and the public to their annual display of materials from the University Archives.
This celebration of school pride and memories features photographs, yearbooks, bound Posts, other student publications such as the Green Goat, dance cards, scrapbooks, sports programs, event posters, as well as many other original items and artifacts from Ohio University's yesteryear.
The 18-table display, formerly on view at Baker University Center, has been a huge hit with more than 500 visitors each year. This year the display will be on the fourth floor in Alden Library from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Digitized archival films depicting the University campus during various decades from the early 1930s to the late 1970s will also be screened.
In addition, the Libraries will be raffling an Amazon Kindle Fire to one lucky attendee. Registration will be held at the display with the winner drawn at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. Winners need not be present.
Students and alumni are encouraged to not only visit and browse the spectacular display in Alden, but give feedback by visiting the Libraries' Facebook page.
Also, don't forget the homecoming spirit doesn't have to last one week out of the year. University Archives images and documents are available for enjoyment year-round on the Libraries' website, including the digitized versions of Ohio University yearbooks.
