From staff reports
Pamela (Cork) Drake, former associate director of residence services at Ohio University, died on July 17, after an extended illness.
She retired from Ohio University after more than 20 years of service in the Office of Residential Housing. Drake devoted much of her time and energy to assisting first-year students with their housing assignments during her career. She worked closely with many on the Athens campus and will be remembered for her dedication to helping others.
"Pamela exemplified all that is great about Ohio University," said Drake's longtime friend and co-worker Wendy Merb-Brown, director of learning communities and budget unit manager for University College. "She was dedicated to the students, to her colleagues, and to the community. She was one of those people who I think of when I think of Ohio University."
Drake also reached out to students and colleagues outside of her department through volunteer work.
"Many people got to know her through her volunteer work," said Merb-Brown. "She is what we all strive to be."
Memorial services will be at at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Galbreath Chapel.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Athens County Humane Society, PO Box 765, Athens, OH 45701.
