The Ohio University Flying Bobcats were announced as National Champions for Safety at the National Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA) Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference (SAFECON) last Saturday.
The trophy is sponsored by American Eagle Airlines.
During the weeklong event held at The Ohio State University Airport in Columbus, Ohio, top pilots in the nation competed in a number of events, including precision landing, airplane recognition and flight simulation. Senior Ben Brierly led the team with a sixth-place finish in precision landing.
