Ohio University officials have contacted all students studying in Japan and can confirm that they are safe in the wake of the 8.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the country earlier today.
Staff will continue to maintain contact and provide guidance for the study abroad students and are in the process of contacting the students' parents.
The university is reaching out to members of the Japanese community on campus to offer support during this difficult time.
Japanese students and faculty at Ohio University who need assistance are encouraged to contact the Office of International Student and Faculty Services at 740-593-4330.
Help is also available at Counseling and Psychological Services with walk-in hours Monday through Friday from 9:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. or by calling 740-593-1616 at any time.
