Members of the Ohio University Volunteer Alumni Admissions Network are using the Homecoming trip back to campus as an opportunity to help future Bobcats learn more about OHIO through the VAAN High School Visit Program.
Undergraduate Admissions is using alumni volunteers to assist with
ongoing recruitment efforts by distributing admissions materials to
high schools across the country and to have conversations with guidance counselors.
Providing admissions materials to high schools is an important part of recruiting prospective students, and personally delivering recruitment materials encourages high school guidance staff to establish a deeper connection with OHIO.
This new program will be held in conjunction with OHIO's Homecoming Weekend, Oct. 15-17. Participants will receive packets of admissions materials as they arrive to campus and will distribute the packets to local high schools upon returning to their hometowns.
Myron Dianiska, a 1967 and 1972 alumnus now living Texas, has been actively involved in the VAAN program for two years by participating in high school visits, college fairs, and letter writing campaigns.
"I really enjoy working with young people who are on a quest for
self-discovery and want and appreciate guidance in that effort," Dianiska said. "Participating in the VAAN program allows me to
reconnect with the fond memories of my time at OHIO, plus the networking is great!"
The Volunteer Alumni Admissions Network is also an opportunity for recent OHIO alumni to remain involved with the University.
"The VAAN program has helped me stay connected to OHIO while promoting it to students in the Chicago area, a city I have grown to love," said Adam Snyder, a 2008 alumnus from Sylvania, Ohio.
