President Roderick J. McDavis will commence the 2010-11 academic year with a faculty and staff fall convocation at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, in the Walter Hall Rotunda. The event is open to the public.
In his address, McDavis will propose ways to elevate the institution by responding to the changing landscape of society and higher education.
He will also share next steps for how the university community will face pending economic challenges, including a projected $15 million reduction in its state share of instruction in 2011-12.
McDavis said the convocation will provide a unique opportunity for faculty and staff to come together at the beginning of the new academic year. He will use the opportunity to articulate OHIO’s vision, recognize the contributions of faculty and staff, and challenge the university community to continue its progress in the face of economic challenges.
“Each and every one of us has a responsibility to be an active participant in determining the future direction of our university,” McDavis said. “We now must make decisions about how we will harness what we do so well – help students fulfill their promise – and advance it to the next level."
