From staff reports
The bikeway on the Richland Avenue Bridge will open to cyclists and pedestrians on Friday, Aug. 20. The bikeway is on the west side of the Richland Avenue Bridge, and flaggers will be onsite to direct cyclists and pedestrians to use this bikeway.
Shelly and Sands Inc., the improvement project’s contractor, will be removing the barrier wall on the Richland Avenue Bridge and the temporary pedestrian walkway, on Friday, Aug. 20, beginning at 9 a.m. Traffic will be flagged during the removal, which is expected to occur throughout the day. Drivers should expect delays.
The contractor is expecting to pave the closed portion of Richland Avenue on Friday. They also expect to pave the new bike path on Saturday. Flaggers will direct pedestrian traffic.
On Monday, Aug. 23, an asphalt overlay will be placed on Richland Avenue between the Richland Avenue/South Shafer Street intersection and the Oxbow Bridge.
The work is expected to begin at 7 a.m. and will require the closure of Richland Avenue north of the Richland Avenue/South Shafer Street intersection to the Oxbow Bridge. Northbound traffic will be diverted onto either South Shafer Street or South Green Drive.
During the remainder of the week, the contractor will continue to work on Richland Avenue north of the bridge, the bike path and SR 682, east of the intersection.
