Baker University Center to reduce operating hours in fall

Changes a result of budget reduction

Ohio University Event Services recently announced that Baker University Center operating hours will be reduced beginning fall quarter.

Sujit Chemburkar, executive director of event services, said the reduced hours are a result of budget reductions to his area. He said the new schedule was established after his staff analyzed reservation and usage numbers and collected feedback from students and Graduate and Student senates.

The new building hours during the 33 academic weeks starting fall quarter are:

  • Sunday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. (events must conclude by 7:30 p.m.)
  • Monday – Wednesday: 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. (events must conclude by 9:30 p.m.)
  • Thursday – Friday: 7 a.m. – midnight (events must conclude by 11:30 p.m.)
  • Saturday: 8 a.m. – midnight (events must conclude by 11:30 p.m.)

"We feel these hours will still protect and continue to enhance the student experience in this facility and have minimal impact on the majority of events," Chemburkar said.

Current hours and summer 2010 hours in the Baker University Center can be found at www.bakercenter.org/hours/.

Chemburkar said anyone with scheduled events affected by the new operating hours should call 740-593-4021 or visit the Event Services Office in Baker University Center Room 350.
