GLOBAL RESOURCE POLITICS
Dr. Stacy D. VanDeveer to present public lecture titled “Global Resource Politics” on Monday, March 11 at 7 p.m. in Ohio University’s Porter Hall, room 102.
Globally, demand for nearly every natural resource is on the increase. Energy, minerals, land, food, water--higher consumption levels are driving resource politics on a global level. These global resource dynamics pose fundamental challenges to our national and international political institutions.
Stacy D. VanDeveer, associate professor of political science at the University of New Hampshire, will address global resource dynamics and their impacts on international and human security. How can we manage these challenges more effectively?
VanDeveer, co-editor of the leading journal Global Environmental Politics, has published extensively on international environmental policy, consumption and global commodity markets, and environmental security. He regularly contributes to a range of national and international policy debates, most recently as a fellow at the TransAtlantic Academy in Washington, D.C.
VanDeveer’s visit to Athens is sponsored by Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs and its Environmental Studies Program.
