    RE: Job Information Questionnaire

     

    Recently, we announced the formation of a Compensation Project Team. The team will study our existing compensation programs and processes for Classified and IT positions and recommend improvements.

    A first step in the process is to obtain accurate information on job responsibilities. This information will be used to ensure accurate salary comparisons to the market. Because you know your duties and responsibilities better than anyone, WE NEED YOUR HELP to obtain an accurate description of your job. We are asking you to complete this questionnaire which asks for information about your job duties. Accordingly, we are encouraging all Information Technology employees to take advantage of this opportunity to complete the attached Job Information Questionnaire (JIQ).

    On the pages that follow, you will be asked to describe the purpose and major responsibilities of your job, and the skills you use to perform your job. Your thoughtful and candid response to the questionnaire will help the Team to:

    • Develop updated job descriptions
    • Compare Ohio University jobs with comparable jobs in the local and regional marketplace
    • Position the university to be competitive in retaining and recruiting high quality individuals

    Please remember that NO employee will be downgraded nor lose pay as a result of this study.

    To assist you in completing the JIQ form, check the project website, http://www.ohiou.edu/comp for the following:

    • An electronic version of the JIQ form
    • A list of action verbs to assist in describing job duties
    • Job title matches to market
    • A list of Planning Unit Representatives (Human Resource Advisory Council Members )
    • A list of Project Team Members

    Once you have completed the JIQ, forward it to your supervisor(s), who will have the opportunity to review and comment on, but not change your answers. Your supervisor(s) will then forward the JIQ to the planning unit head for their review. Return the completed JIQ to: Comp Project, UHR, McKee House by December 17th. (over)
