Project Update

The Compensation & Rewards Project Team has been working diligently on the Invent Phase to design the new compensation and rewards plans. We expect to have overall approval for the design soon. Phase III, Deliver will take place during Spring Quarter, and will include significant communication and orientation meetings. The following components have been developed:

Role-based Competency Framework

Three roles have been identified and specific competencies assigned to each:
  • Administrative/Technical
  • Professional
  • Manager
Based on the Discover Phase, the project team identified seven competencies. Competencies are the combination of skills, knowledge, and behaviors that employees are encouraged to apply in their jobs. These competencies were designed to support the overall mission of the university. The competencies are in addition to functional job descriptions. The competencies are:
Shared Accountability & Collaboration
  • Customer Focus
  • Teamwork
  • Respect for People
  • Performance Initiative

Continuous Learning & Development
  • Application of Knowledge and Continuous Learning
  • Innovation and Managing Change
  • Performance Management and Development

Market-based Pay Structure

The Job Information Questionnaires (JIQs), which were submitted by classified and IT employees last March, were used to assess the competitiveness of Ohio University's pay in comparison to the market, and to develop a new pay structure
The JIQs are currently being used in developing a new classification plan
