Graduation from college is a very special occasion.

In addition to approximately 1,600 graduates per ceremony, there will be nearly 14,000 relatives, dignitaries and faculty in attendance at each ceremony. Consequently, candidates need to know what happens at graduation and what is expected of them.

The vast majority of family members and graduates prefer that the ceremony have the dignity of a university graduation. Many parents, guardians and students have made significant financial and emotional sacrifice for a college education. Graduates may decorate his/her mortar board but are discouraged from acts that ridicule the importance of the graduation ceremony.

Items that distract from the ceremony or threaten safety will be confiscated before and during the ceremony.

Please note that there will be no beverage containers of any kind permitted inside the arena or any other time which would detract from the dignity of the occasion.

The graduation ceremony is a big moment in the graduate's life. No one except the graduate can ensure that the celebration will be safe, dignified, and memorable.
