Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. degree from Iowa State University. Prior to joining Ohio University, Dr. Kim worked at Western Research Institute for 5 years, working on the Strategic Highway Research Program and several other asphalt research projects sponsored by Federal Highway Administration. He is an active participant of Transportation Research Board (TRB) committees, TRB Asphalt Binder Expert Task Group, American Society of Civil Engineers, and Association of Asphalt Paving Technologists.
Research Activities
Dr. Kim's primary research interest is asphalt materials. Current research projects include: "Determination of Mechanical Properties of Materials Used in WAY-30 Test Pavements" (Ohio DOT/FHWA), "Development of Asphalt Binder Cracking Device" (NCHRP-IDEA #99), and "A Simple Test Procedure for Evaluating Low Temperature Cracking Resistance of Asphalt Concrete" (Ohio DOT/FHWA).
