Application Process

The application for the Ohio University Physician Assistant Program is available through the Graduate College. The application has three parts: (1) test scores (i.e., GRE, English Proficiency if necessary) reported to the Graduate College from the testing organization(s), (2) an online application, including uploaded documents, and (3) a mailed packet of forms sent to the Graduate College (see Packet mailed to Graduate College below).

  • Online Application: Available July 1, 2014. Primary consideration is given to applications received prior to October 1, 2014. No advantage is offered to applicants who complete materials closer to July 1.

  • Copies of Transcripts: Uploaded as part of the online application to the Graduate College. Official transcripts are not required until an official offer of admission is made to a candidate.

  • Resume: Uploaded as part of the online application to the Graduate College.

  • Personal Statement: Uploaded as part of the online application to the Graduate College. Should not exceed 750 words.

  • Packet mailed to Graduate College:

    • Completed Recommendation Rubric (2)

    • Completed Direct Patient Care Experience Form

    • Completed PA Shadow Form

    • If graduating the in the fall, spring or summer semester directly preceding matriculation, completed Verification of Intent to Graduate Form

    • If Active Duty Military, National Guard, Reserve or Veteran, please mail a notarized copy of one of the following: (1) current military ID, (2) DD form 214, (3) retirement orders, or (4) current letter from commander / military supervisor.

Campus Interview

Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an on-campus interview as part of the final admission process.

Accreditation Status

The Ohio University Physician Assistant Program has applied for Accreditation – Provisional from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status for a new PA program that has not yet enrolled and/or graduated students, but at the time of its initial accreditation review has demonstrated its preparedness to initiate a program in accordance with the accreditation standards.
