The textbook for the quarter (and for Chem 152 and 153) is the 6th edition of Silberberg’s “Chemistry: The Molecular Nature of Matter and Change” published by McGraw Hill, copyright 2012.

In addition, you will be required to purchase the online homework system (CONNECT PLUS). The book can be purchased at any of the local bookstores or via online at any site you choose.

The bookstores will package CONNECT PLUS with the book, but if you buy the text from some other source, you will need to purchase CONNECT PLUS directly from the publisher.

In addition, the publisher has set up a microsite where you can purchase the text (loose leaf) with CONNECT PLUS directly from them. The site is:

Please note that the ISBN number listed above is only for this special combination for Ohio University. The hard back book of the same edition will have a different ISBN. Please note when going to the publishers website that you will be unable to search for OU’s microsite so you will need to copy and past the above link in if you wish to purchase the loose leaf text and CONNECT PLUS at the price quoted above.

In addition to the book, you will also need a pair of safety goggles and a lab coat. These can be purchased at one of the local bookstores. As a convenience, we sell the lab coats in our stockroom at cost (~$3.00).
