Dr. Young holds the following degrees and experience:
- B.S. Chemical Engineering, Lehigh University, 1988
- Ph.D. Chemical Engineering, Virginia Tech, 1992
- Postdoctoral Research, Centre for Atmospheric Chemistry, York University, 1992-1996
Dr. Young joined Ohio University in 1996. She has been involved in air quality research everywhere from Nashville, Tennessee to Barrow, Alaska. Dr. Young is the faculty advisor for the Ohio University chapter of Omega Chi Epsilon (the chemical engineering honor society) and for the Chemical Engineering Graduate Student Organization.

- Determination of Br and Cl atom levels in the Arctic springtime atmosphere
- Modeling the transport of fire emissions through Indiana bat habitat during prescribed burning
