Restrictions on Ph.D. Courses of Study

The only course requirement for Ph.D. students is three Ph.D.-level (numbered 700 or above) courses, two of which must be chemical engineering courses.  These must be pre-approved technical courses, meaning that they appear on your Course of Study.  No special investigation credit hours are allowed unless they are used to cover an experimental course which meets formally and has multiple students. If you think a course is necessary to your course of study that might fall outside of these guidelines, you may take it with the approval of your advisor, and it must appear on your Course of Study.  However, it will be considered an extra (elective) course and will not count as one of the three required courses.
