Applying For Graduate Study
Thank you for considering pursuing your M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at Ohio University. You must officially apply to the graduate programs through Ohio University. The first link below will allow you to access all the necessary directions and forms.
We invite inquiries from potential students with a sincere interest in our research focus areas: (1) Bioengineering, (2) Energy and the Environment, and (3) Materials. We encourage you to identify your area of greatest interest on your application in your “Personal Statement” and to discuss how your interest developed and any relevant experience you may have. This enables the Graduate Chair to alert faculty in your area of interest to your application.
Most faculty are also happy to receive a personal e-mail that shows a sincere and specific interest in their research. Early contact can help you make more rapid progress in selecting an advisor and a project after you arrive and can lead to higher chances for financial assistance from research grant funds. However, please refrain from bulk mailings to faculty. They are usually easily identified and unlikely to impress the recipient. Also, please remember that no one can promise you admission or financial assistance until an official application is received and processed.
For more information or for specific inquiries about our graduate program and the application process, please contact Dr. Valerie Young, Chair of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
