Chemical engineering PhD graduate joins Pitt faculty

Prithu Sundd, who earned a doctorate in chemical engineering at Ohio University, will join the University of Pittsburgh faculty in February.
Sundd will hold appointments as assistant professor in the Vascular Medicine Institute in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and in the Department of Bioengineeringin the Swanson School of Engineering.
Most recently, Sundd was an instructor in the Division of Inflammation Biology at the La Jolla (Calif.) Institute for Allergy and Immunology.
He is the lead author of a paper published online in the journal Nature in July 2012, "'Slings' enable neutrophil rolling at high shear."
At Ohio University, Sundd's advisor was David Tees, associate professor of physics and astronomy. Tees is an affiliated chemical and biomolecular engineering faculty member and a member of the biomedical engineering master's program faculty. Sundd received his doctorate in 2008.
