Welcome

Since the work of the Voinovich School first began thirty years ago, the local, state and national outlook on energy and the environment has changed significantly. Science and policy have fundamentally altered the way we think about and interact with our environment. Unchanged, however, is the School’s commitment to serve Ohio’s communities and businesses and apply the University’s technical know-how to support robust regional economic development.

The Consortium for Energy, Economics and the Environment (CE3) was formed in 2005 at Ohio University as a partnership between the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, the Russ College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences. This partnership and the work performed by our faculty and staff are a testament to this institution’s multidisciplinary approach to energy and environmental issues.

This region’s economy has always been inextricably linked to resource extraction. Coal, oil and gas, timber, iron and more have all fueled the region’s economy for more than 200 years. The environmental legacy of these extractive industries and the restoration of the region’s land, water and air provide both a research and teaching platform for our faculty and students.

CE3 aims to be a trusted resource within the region and beyond to assist in transforming the regional paradigm for businesses, government and nonprofit leaders to capitalize on the opportunities to create a more sustainable and prosperous future. We look forward to working with your organization to build a well-informed and more proactive region, state and nation.

Sincerely,
Scott Miller
