Summer Field Camp

Alumni often describe field camp as the most enjoyable and memorable part of their undergraduate experience. The summer field camp is the Geological Sciences capstone course where students put their field mapping techniques to use. Recent field camp participants spent part of the camp at Yellowstone Bighorn Research Association facility in Red Lodge, Montana.

The camp lasts five weeks and typically is taken immediately after a student's junior or senior year. The camp begins with several weeks of fieldwork in Ohio and the Appalachian Mountains, followed by several weeks in Montana, Wyoming and the Northeastern United States.

Online Geological Sciences Courses

Dr. Greg Springer taught the first online geology course—GEOL 1350 Natural Hazards. Also going online are GEOL 1400 Dinosaurs and the Mesozoic World and GEOL 1300 Geology of National Parks. To see what's offered this semester, visit the Ohio University Registration website.
