Sponsored by Ohio University, Marietta College, Muskingum University and The University of Rio Grande

Friday, April 16, 2010 - Convocation Center

*The TRC is open to students and alumni of Ohio University and the consortium schools.

REQUIREMENTS TO INTERVIEW AT THIS EVENT:

  • Be available for a permanent, full-time teaching position by August 2010.

Event Format

The TRC will operate on an entirely open format. Each school district will have an "open table" where you can stop by and talk with school representatives throughout the day. Should the school representatives choose to interview teacher candidates, they may do so at their table. School District Representatives may opt to move their interview location. Be sure you know the location of your interview. The location could be different for each interview!!

Sign-Up Period

Although the entire day will be operating on an open format, from 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., all school representatives will be at their table to speak with teacher candidates about openings and, if they choose, schedule you for an interview. It would be to your best advantage to be at this event ready to speak with districts by 8:00 a.m. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m.

HOW TO OBTAIN INTERVIEWS AFTER THE EVENT:

TRC Resume Book

Each school district that attends this event will receive a TRC Résumé  Book which will include all candidates' resumes who meets the March 20 TRC Résumé Book deadline. The TRC Résumé Book will be indexed by certification area. Many school districts refer back to this book to contact candidates as openings become available in their districts.

Many school districts will also refer back to Bobcat CareerLink to select candidates as positions become available in their district. With this in mind, it is critical that you keep your resume updated in the online system.

Bobcat CareerLink

  • For information on how to login to Bobcat CareerLink visit http://www.ohio.edu/careers/students/oncampus.cfm
  • This service allows you to post your résumé on the Career Services website. Career Services will use the résumé that you have posted in Bobcat CareerLink by March 20th for the “TRC Résumé Book” which will be distributed to all school districts attending the TRC. This service also allows approximately 250 additional school districts, which do not attend the TRC, access to your résumé. School districts then have the option to contact you for an interview.

TRC INFORMATION:

  • Visit Bobcat CareerLink for a link listing career fair participants. From here, you will be able to view school districts that have registered for the TRC. This will be updated periodically, so check this site often!
  • Attend the TRC on April 16, 2010 to meet with school district representatives and schedule interviews. Please remember that Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and the Sign-Up Period begins at 8:00 a.m. Interviews continue throughout the day until 4:00 p.m. Good Luck!!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Bring at least 25 résumés to the TRC to give to school representatives. If you need assistance with your résumé, see an advisor in Career Services.

  • You may wish to bring your portfolio with you. In addition, or instead of your full portfolio, you may want to bring several “mini-portfolios” which contain copies of select items from your portfolio that you can leave with recruiters.

  • The College of Education will arrange for Spring Quarter student teachers to be released from their duties to attend the TRC. Check in the Field Experience Office for details.
