Become a Mentee or a Mentor!

The Ohio University Leadership Mentoring Program is designed to provide students with a chance to form deep connections with experienced faculty, staff, and students of the Ohio University and Athens community, while learning the deeper values and attributes of effective leadership as they relate to the student's personal context.

Mentoring programs provide first year students with the guidance and support they need to be successful in college and beyond. Mentorship facilitates personal and professional growth through self-discovery and the development of meaningful bonds with people who understand this important time in the mentees' lives. Similarly, becoming a mentor provides faculty, staff, and upperclass students the special opportunity to give back and contribute not only to the future of the student but to the Ohio University and greater community.

Mentees will receive one-on-one guidance developed around their individual needs, while broadening their perspectives and gaining strong networking opportunities. Must be a first-year student.

Mentors will have the opportunity to be an integral part of an emerging student leader's academic career. Mentors will also receive training in leadership coaching. Must be faculty, staff, or student with rank of 3rd year or beyond.

Length of time commitment: 1 year
