  • Alcohol Policy

    All chapter members are responsible for being familiar with the policies and procedures that govern the use and sale of alcoholic beverages at Ohio University, which have been established in accordance with the laws regarding alcohol established by the State of Ohio. Alcohol abuse is not to be promoted, encouraged, or tolerated. Complete text of the alcohol policy is available at Campus Life, 355 Baker University Center, or online.

    Specifically, the Ohio University alcohol policy, as it relates to fraternity
    and sorority housing, states: any individual who is legally permitted to
    consume alcoholic beverages may do so responsibly in the privacy of
    his/her own room within a fraternity/sorority chapter facility or in the
    room of another person who is of legal age.

    • Use of alcoholic beverages is not permitted in the common areas of fraternity/sorority chapter facilities or on the property of fraternity/sorority chapter facilities.
    • Alcoholic beverages are not permitted at social events in fraternity/sorority chapter facilities or on the property of fraternity/sorority facilities.
    • Sale of alcoholic beverages is not permitted in fraternity/sorority chapter facilities or on the property of fraternity/sorority facilities.

 NOTE:  If the inter/national fraternity/sorority organization has adopted a more stringent alcohol policy, the chapter will adhere to those guidelines.
