Purpose
The purpose of the Black Student Cultural Programming Board is to provide social, cultural, educational, and recreational programs for African American students and other multicultural students. We seek to expose others to the culture, thoughts, and prospectives of African Americans throughout the Ohio University community as well as the Athens community. Our goal is to serve as a resource for the impowerment of the cultural programming at Ohio University.

Meetings
BSCPB holds Executive Board meetings every Monday at 6:00pm and General Body meetings every Wednesday at 6:00pm.

How can I become a member?
To be in our exciting organization, a member must attend three(3) General Body meetings and participate in the planning/implementation of one(1) event. There is a yearly due of $5 but along with that you receive discounts to all of our events, a t-shirt, and an offical member card.

Yearly Programming

Homecoming Coronation
This event is a formal dance and dinner with live entertainment. The Black Student Cultural Programming Board is the only organization on campus that puts on an annual Homecoming Coronation that crowns a King and Queen.

Pre-Kwanzaa Celebration Dinner
The Pre-Kwanzaa Celebration is a dinner celebrating the seven principles of Kwanzaa. A speaker, chosen by the Office of Multicultural Programs, will speak on the importance of the seven principles in today's society. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Programs.

"K" is for Kwanzaa
K is for Kwanzaa teaches young children about the history, ceremony, and principles of Kwanzaa. Children enjoy a morning of activities while gaining practical information that they can share with their families. This is an opportunity for BSCPB to do an outreach program with local area youth.

Sibs Weekend
Variety Show
A family friendly talent show showcasing the talent of Ohio University students and their siblings. BSCPB's variety show has become a staple in the Sib's Weekend schedule. The show is filled with enough fun to make sibs of all ages happy.

Concert
Featuring R&B and/or Rap artists, this is a concert that is sure to be fun and exciting for the older sibs visiting that weekend.

Unity Fest
Outdoor Festival
A day of free food, games and music, this festival brings together the Ohio University community for one last celebration! Usually planned at the end of spring quarter, this event culminates BSCPB's social events for the year.

Comedy Show
After the outdoor fun, come back to the best comedy show of the year. Laugh as BSCPB presents a popular comedian to entertain the masses.

Black Alumni Weekend Entertainment
Every three years, Ohio University holds the Black Alumni Weekend. These Ohio University Alumni will leave the campus fulfilled because BSCPB sponsors a show just for them. BSCPB has made a powerful impact in the diverse programming at Ohio University for over 33 years, so it only makes sense for BSCPB to make a contribution to the Black Alumni Weekend. Whether it's comedy or music, it will be a show to please everyone.
