Hoover House


Location and Current Use

Hoover House is located in the South Green, between coordinates I-6 and J-7 on the campus map. It is marked as # 136 on the map.

Hoover House is a residence hall. There is also a kitchen for the residents to share. Hoover House is the home for the Honors Tutorial College students that prefer to live there.

The Housing office provides more detailed information on line.


History of Building

Hoover House was built in 1969 and originally was used as a residence hall for students. It was originally known as South Green building number 15.


Thomas Nathaniel Hoover

Hoover House was named in honor of Thomas Nathaniel Hoover. A native of Jackson, OH, he was educated at Ohio University and Harvard University. He was a professor of History and historian at Ohio University for 39 years. He was a contributor of the American Yearbook and Cyclopedia of American Government.
