OHIO Ecohouse


Location and Current Use

The OHIO Ecohouse is located at 8133 Dairy Lane (Dairy Lane intersects Richland Avenue between OH-682 and the Ohio University Inn, near The Ridges).

The mission of the OHIO Ecohouse is to demonstrate affordable, green technology and sustainable living. It serves as an outreach and education platform for Ohio University, the local community, and the Appalachian region.

Tours of the OHIO Ecohouse are available by appointment: contact Sonia Marcus, Resource Conservation Coordinator, by e-mail to marcuss@ohio.edu or by phone (740) 593-0026.

The OHIO Ecohouse also hosts potlucks and open houses at least once a month. Check the university calendar of events for more information about the OHIO Ecohouse, or visit the OHIO Ecohouse Web pages, which start at http://www.ohio.edu/ecohouse/.


History of the Building

The OHIO Ecohouse was launched as a ecological student residence in June of 2005. Prior to this time, the house had been used to host Ohio University guests and visiting faculty.
