Yamada International House


Location and Current Use

Yamada International House is located in the North Green, between coordinates H-3 and I-3 on the campus map. It is marked as # 33 on the map.

Yamada International House is used by the Center for International Studies: offices located in the building include African Studies, Communication and Development Studies, International Development Studies, Latin American Studies, Southeast Asia Studies, Ohio Valley International Council, Fulbright U.S. Student Program, Fulbright U.S. Faculty Program, and Ohio University's Peace Corps recruiting office.


History of Building

The two story house was built in 1920, and was occuppied by the Burson family. The property, located at 56 E. Union Street, was purchased by Ohio University in 1969. It was known as Burson House until the building was renovated in 2003, when it was rededicated as Yamada International House.
