An Interdisciplinary Approach to Rural Health

ARHI strives to build a strong foundation by bringing together researchers, community members and health care professionals with common interests and a variety of academic backgrounds.

Goals of the Institute:

Identify personal and material resources at Ohio University and the region linked with crafting new traditions for Appalachian health.

Identify current knowledge and concerns about diverse health care concerns, risks, barriers to care, and needs of those residing in Appalachian Ohio and other rural Appalachian regions.

Foster the development of a scholarly environment where high-quality interprofessional and community research, scholarship, and education about rural Appalachian health can be conducted.

Support policy that advocates for the health care needs of Appalachian populations at the regional, state, and national level.
