Chair's Description of Departmental Coverage for Faculty Fellowship Leave

Example One:

Departmental Coverage of Teaching Load and Responsibilities for Dr. A During Faculty Fellowship Leave (This example is for a leave during Fall Quarter.)

During Fall Quarter, Dr. A teaches an undergraduate class, Structure of Fungi (BIO 211), which is a core course in the curriculum. There is no other faculty member able to substitute for Dr. A. Because this course is important to our majors and other science majors, he has agreed to teach an extra section of this class during Spring Quarter. I will adjust the winter schedule to include an additional section of the course that he usually teaches in spring. Thus, the same number of course offerings will occur, just in different quarters. Advance notice will be given to students in order to avoid any disruptions. Dr. A also teaches an introductory class that will be covered by hiring Mr. B, a biology teacher at Athens High School, on a part-time contract. Dr. A does not advise or oversee graduate students at this time.

Example Two:

Departmental Coverage of Teaching Load and Responsibilities for Dr. A During Faculty Fellowship Leave  (This example is for a leave requested for three quarters.)

Fall Quarter:
BIO 141 will be covered by Dr. B
BIO 141L will be covered by Dr. B
BIO 760 will be covered by Dr. C
BIO 695 will be covered by Dr. D
Dr. D will supervise two graduate students

Winter Quarter:
BIO 142 will be covered by Dr. E
BIO 142L will be covered by Dr. E
BIO 642 will be covered by Dr. F
BIO 695 will be covered by Dr. D
Dr. D will supervise two graduate students

Spring Quarter:
BIO 143 will be covered by Dr. H
BIO 143L will be covered by a teaching associate
BIO 445 will be covered by Dr. I
