Recommendation for Emeritus/Emerita Status
In accordance with Ohio University Policy and Procedure 18.031, recommendations for conferment of Emeritus/Emerita status begin in the department or school of current service by a process established there. In most areas, it is similar to the process for promotion. Following approval at the department or school level, nominations are forwarded through the proper administrative chain of command to the President, who may recommend Emeritus/Emerita status to the Board of Trustees at the spring meeting.
A written nomination (one page) must accompany the appropriate form and address the following factors as well as any others deemed pertinent by the department or school:
- Length of service at Ohio University (minimum of ten years)
- Quality of teaching, research, and service or performance in an administrative position
- Overall contribution to the University
- Service to society beyond the University community
- Recognition and honors
