Welcome to the Air Force ROTC Senior Page! Below are pictures of the current seniors in the program, along with a few short sentences about their experiences while at Detachment 650. Take a minute to read a few and see what the seniors have to say about the program here.
Welcome to AFROTC at Detachment 650! You will find that our corps of cadets are truly among the best officer candidates for the United States Air Force. Our program offers students diverse leadership opportunities while providing concentrated training geared towards making you as prepared as possible for active duty. Your experience at Ohio University will be a blast while jump-starting your future with great academic programs and unmatched AFROTC instruction. I applaud your interest in the Air Force and I encourage you to join our team and contribute to our outstanding reputation! Best of Luck!
If you surround yourself with individuals with high character then you will set yourself up for success and to be a cadet at Det 650 you have to be of high character. College is full of distractions and it is easy to go down the wrong path, the Air Force keeps your mindset for excellence.
All my friends have been panicking about trying to find a job after college. I have known since freshman year, that I have a career waiting for me in the USAF.
Detachment 650 has been like a second home to me. The cadets I have worked with and trained with have all become like brothers and sisters to me. The training received is second to none.
There will be good times and bad times, but at the end of four years look at everything you've accomplished. How many college students will be able to have these same experiences and grow this much? Only the strongest and most dedicated. Good Luck Det 650!
ROTC, like life, is a balancing act. Here you must learn to juggle academics, physical as well as mental health, your ROTC career, and life as a college student. It is not an easy game to play and there will be many challenges. It takes a strong person to complete the program; however, no one is strong enough to finish alone. Ask for help at the earliest sign of a possible problem. There is nothing wrong with seeking assistance. If the Cadre can't help directly they will assist in getting you the help necessary. But, you must have the strength to admit when you need help. Success in ROTC, as well as college, is a team sport. Lastly, never give up on yourself. There will be difficult times; keep a stiff upper lip, pick up your head, and walk with pride because you are attempting something which most people won't. I applaud your willingness to make the effort. Good Luck.
AFROTC made me the person I am today. It gave me the opportunity to meet wonderful people with a great sense of integrity and strong moral values.I was taught how to lead and how to follow while learning a great deal about myself in the process. This program is possibly one of the best things that’s every happened to me and I’m a better, stronger, more independent person because of it.
