Detachment 650's Mission:
"To recruit, develop, and commission trustworthy,
selfless, and professional Second Lieutenants for
service to the Nation."
Welcome to the official
AFROTC Detachment 650 Webpage! Our program is designed
to produce quality military officers for the United
States Air Force and the Nation. It is a two- to
four-year program, geared to growing outstanding
leaders with a broad set of personal, professional,
leadership and managerial skills useful in both the
Air Force and civilian worlds. Academic,
time-management, communications and interpersonal
skills are just some of the areas our program
develops, and every cadet is challenged to push
themselves into new areas of personal growth daily.
No matter what career field you are interested in,
Air Force ROTC can help you achieve your personal
goals. We offer scholarships to competitively selected
high school seniors, and provide opportunities to earn
scholarships after you begin your college career at
Ohio University. Cadets receive free tutoring from the
Academic Advancement Center and learn in an open,
friendly environment built on the idea of cadets
helping one another learn and grow.
If selected
for an AFROTC scholarship at Ohio University, you may
be able to attend college with little or no
out-of-pocket expenses. In addition to the
scholarships available, Ohio University provides a generous room and board
subsidy for all AFROTC scholarship recipients at the
school.
If you are interested in more
information on our program or the scholarships we
offer, you can check the links above to really get a
feel of what it means to be a cadet in the Air Force
ROTC!
At Ohio University, Air Force ROTC is
administratively part of University College.

COMMANDER'S CALL
On behalf of Air Force
ROTC Detachment 650 and the Bobcat Wing, I'd
like to welcome you to our webpage. Our
detachment has a long, proud history as one of
the first Air Force ROTC detachments in the
nation, at the oldest and one of the finest
public universities in the state of Ohio.
Our partnership with Ohio University has
produced over 1500 top-notch commissioned
officers since 1948, with distinguished alumni
that include four general officers and two
members of the US Air Force Thunderbirds (one
of whom became the unit commander and lead
solo pilot). Ohio University's superb
academic programs, outstanding support of our
detachment and picturesque setting creates a
unique environment to grow world-class
officers, fit to lead American airmen in times
of both peace and war.
I want to thank
you for your interest in our program, and
challenge you to consider being a part of
something bigger than yourself, serving this
great Nation of ours as a United States Air
Force officer. |
