University Advancement has made significant progress in meeting the Division’s staffing objectives for the public phase of the Campaign and has promoted key leaders within the Division. We welcome all of those people who are new to OHIO and congratulate our team members on their promotions!
New Team Members
Matt Broders has accepted the position of assistant athletics director & assistant director of development, athletics annual giving. Matt comes to us by way of his alma mater, Boise State University, where he worked in athletic development. His most recent role there was as a development specialist where he planned, organized and implemented a successful capital fundraising program that integrated online donations with social media.
University Advancement welcomes our new human resources manager, Shannon Paige. An OHIO alumnus and certified professional in human resources (PHR), Shannon comes to us most recently from the Ohio Department of Commerce, where he served as human capital management senior analyst.
Scott Gluck has joined the development team as senior director of development for the Russ College of Engineering and Technology. He was previously at Point Park University in Pittsburgh, where he served as associate vice-president for development and alumni relations.
Kristen Schweitzer is our new assistant director of development for the Scripps College of Communication. An OHIO alumna, Kristen was a development coordinator for Prevent Blindness Ohio, a Columbus-based nonprofit. Kristen managed the organization’s annual campaign and other fundraising initiatives.
Our new assistant director of development for the College of Arts & Sciences is Shawn Ray. In his previous position with the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, he worked to increase the foundation’s event-based fundraising and heighten its profile in the central-Florida community.
Chris Albrecht has joined the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine as senior director of development and executive director of alumni relations. Chris comes to us from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo, where he held two senior director of development positions, one at the College of Arts & Sciences and one at the School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences.
1982 OHIO alumna Susan Downard is now the senior director of development for the College of Arts & Sciences, the University’s largest college. Susan started her career at OHIO in 1986 in the College of Business. She has served the University in many capacities, including head of Donor Relations and Stewardship; director of development for the Scripps College of Communication; and, most recently, director of development for the College of Arts & Sciences. Susan will serve as the chief fundraiser for the College’s development program.
Jim Harris, a 2004 OHIO alumnus, is the new senior director of development for intercollegiate athletics. Jim joined Ohio University in 2009 as the director of development for athletics. Previously he worked at Indiana University Athletics, first as head of the athletic department’s annual fund, and subsequently, as chief major gifts officer. Jim now serves as the chief fundraiser for OHIO athletics development and as senior associate director of athletics.
