When I came to college I wish I would have known: That there is no "typical college experience."
College is different for everyone. Instead of making sure you're doing what everyone else is
doing, just find what makes you happy!

Biggest surprise about Ohio University: How truly accepting and welcoming everyone is here.
  It was a great surprise!

Something I wish more people knew about Ohio University: How wonderful and knowledgeable
the professors and advisors are, especially when it comes to any help you might need. I also
wish people knew that his is probably the most beautiful campus ever, sun, rain, or snow!

My favorite OHIO moment: My favorite moment actually was not physically on campus.
When I went on a cruise for spring break, I met at least four Ohio University alumni on my trip.
I was walking around on the ship one day and an older man wearing an OHIO hat saw my OHIO
shirt and just yelled, "GO BOBCATS!" That was pretty cool!

My favorite place to grab a bite to eat in Athens: Jackie O's. A lot of their food is from local
farms and can please vegans or vegetarians. Also, their cheese curds and pizza are amazing!

My favorite place to study near campus: Donkey Coffee. You can get a refillable cup of coffee for
less than $4.00 and enjoy coffee all day long! Also, when it's nice out, they have an area
upstairs where you can sit and enjoy the weather, coffee, and Athens!

Best professor or class I have had:
Dr. Assan Sarr, History of Africa to 1850. Great professor,
and it was such an interesting class.

  I am most proud of:
Getting my tour guide job as a freshman!

My favorite place to grab a bite to eat in Athens would have to be: Wings Over Athens! The buffalo
  chicken sandwich is the bomb!

Best advice I have for prospective students: Choose the university that will best fit your
academic needs. You can surround yourself with whatever social circles you desire once you get
  to college.

Things I wish more people knew about Ohio University: There are so many diverse communities
that students can become a part of. There's definitely more than meets the eye!

My favorite OHIO moment: I have many, but it has to be the discussions fostered by the
Ferguson march which with I have been involved. The students here care about important issues
like the environment, race, and class.

Something I wish more people knew about Ohio University: How close knit the Bobcat family
really is. You never know where you will be when someone will approach you because you are
wearing an Ohio University shirt and just talk to you because you are an alumnus or another
  student.

The best part about living in Athens: The atmosphere! Everything is within walking distance
and it is very peaceful throughout campus. Everyone is also very friendly. It doesn't get much
better than everyone coming together for game day either!

The main reason I came to Ohio University: It was the only school I visited that I could
actually tell read my application. The campus is also beautiful and has a small town feel while
  being a big school.

JohnKocsis
  John
  Major: Journalism News and Information
  Class Rank: Junior
  Hometown: Cleveland, Ohio

The main reason I came to Ohio University: The opportunities presented to me not only for
career advancement, but also to participate in activities, sports, and to become involved in
  service and community activities.

Someday I would like to: Become the play-by-play voice for a major league sports team. I
believe that Ohio University is giving me the best preparation possible to do that.

Favorite place to study or get away on campus: There's no place like the bike path. It runs
over 20 miles from end to end and if you travel the entire span of it, you get to see pretty much
every environment you can think of. There are farms, railroads, plains, woods, more urbanized
areas, you're along the Hocking River for most of it, you cross roads, and there are some parks
and rest stops along the way. It is absolutely breathtaking.

JordanEndres
  Jordan
  Major: Management and Strategic Leadership
  Class Rank: Junior
  Hometown: Lewis Center, Ohio

Someday I would like to: Go to the botanical garden and greenhouse here on campus.

My favorite OHIO moment: It would have to be just walking across campus. Being able to walk
across such a beautiful campus is amazing. What makes it even more wonderful is being able to
walk with friends and share stories about our day. That is when memories are made. I have a
memory that puts a smile on my face everywhere I have been on campus. From Ping Recreation
Center to the middle of College Green, this campus is wonderful.

Best advice I have for prospective students: Get involved in student organizations and be
involved in class. It is a great way to meet people and make friendships that will last a lifetime.
Ohio University is one big family. Remember, once a Bobcat, always a Bobcat.

JoshVermillion

  Josh
  Major: Journalism News and Information
  Class Rank: Sophomore
  Hometown: Logan, Ohio

My favorite OHIO moment: Freshman year at Homecoming. Seeing all of the alumni and seeing how
big the Bobcat community is was something that made me feel like I was officially a part of the Bobcat
  family.

The best part about living in Athens: The food. There are so many great places to eat up on
Court Street, as well as on Stimson Avenue and State Street. There is such a huge variety.

When I came to college I wish I would have known: How easy it is to spend all of your money.
Without having your parents around to pay, and with all of the great food uptown, it's pretty easy to wind
up broke after a semester here. You have to learn how to budget your money

KaitlinHavert

  Kaitlin
  Major: Communication Sciences and Disorders
  Class Rank: Senior
  Hometown: Sterling, Virginia

My favorite OHIO moment: The Bobcat Blackout football game against Temple my first year here is
something I will never forget. It was the first time Peden Stadium had ever been on ESPN. My friends
and I braved through the cold to cheer on the Bobcats in their last-minute victory. Right when the game
ended, we stormed the field on national television and took a knee with Coach and the team on the 50
to listen to his post-game speech. It was an amazing college experience that has always stood out in my
  mind.

The best part about living in Athens: Athens is a college town. When you think of Athens, Ohio, you

think of Ohio University. The concerts, events, and activities that go on in Athens are for the students.

It is a unique environment to live and grow in. Whether you want to eat burritos from a food cart or

hike to the top of a hill and see all of campus from above, there’s always something different and fun

going on.You’ll never find yourself without something to do!

Biggest surprise about Ohio University: The personalized attention the professors give students.

KarissaJones  Karissa

  Major: Biology and Psychology

  Class Rank: Junior

  Hometown: Chillicothe, Ohio

Things I wish more people knew about Ohio University: Don't worry about every class being

200 people. Many students only have one or two classes this size ever and there are many accommodations

to make sure students still get the individualized attention that need.

My favorite OHIO moment: My first home football game. The atmosphere was awesome and I had

  so much fun.

The best part about living in Athens: I love living in Athens because you discover something

  knew everyday.

The main reason I came to Ohio: I came to Ohio University because I felt like I wasn't just another

student. I felt like a bobcat.

KateSchroeder

Best advice I have for prospective students: Go out and get involved right away! Don't wait to

join student organizations. You have four years, don't waste a minute of it.

A perfect day in Athens would be: A sunny fall day where I was able to appreciate the beauty of

  campus!

Favorite place to study or get away on campus: I like to run on the bike path and head up to The

Ridges. Also, Donkey Coffee is a great place to study!

My favorite place to grab a bite to eat in Athens would be: I'm basic and cannot get enough

  Chipotle. Chipotle is my life.

KathrynBrown

  Katy

  Major: Sport Management

  Class Rank: Sophomore

  Hometown: Louisville, Colorado

Best advice I have for prospective students: Get involved, but don't get over involved. Put your

e-mail down for as many clubs as possible during the involvement fair and go to their first meetings

(who doesn't love free pizza?), then decide what really caters to your interests and pick two or three to

be a part of, and drop the rest. You can always go back once you figure out how to balance school work

  and clubs.

I am most proud of: The strength of the Bobcat family. Where ever you go wearing OU gear you're

bound to run into a fellow Bobcat eager to share a story.

KeilyBalduft

  Keily
  Major: Child and Family Studies
  Class Rank: Sophomore
  Hometown: Huron, Ohio

My favorite green on campus: South Green because there is always something going on, whether it
be a "Throwback Thursday" with Aaron Carter performing, a carnival with baby animals from the Columbus
Zoo, or just a beautiful day when students are out. I've met some of my best friends on South Green.

The main reason I came to Ohio University: I came to Ohio University because it felt like home. The
campus was beautiful, the people were amazing, and the atmosphere was everything I was looking for.
When I was on my way back home after visiting, I couldn't wait until the next time I could return to campus.

Favorite place to study or get away on campus: Emeriti Park is my favorite spot on campus! It is so
  beautiful during all seasons!

KellyZandy

  Kelly
  Major: Marketing
  Class Rank: Senior
  Hometown: Lakewood, Ohio

Best advice for prospective students: My best advice is to try to network and make as many friends
as you can with professors and students alike. One day those students will be alumni and by networking
with alumni and professors, you never know the opportunities they could present to you. One day you will
be looking for a real-world job and these people can possibly offer you great opportunities or advice to be
able to land that dream job!

The main reason I came to Ohio University:The main reason I came to Ohio University is because it
gives me a sense of home and community. I cannot walk down a street in Athens without seeing at least
three friends or a smiling face. Bobcats will go far to help out other Bobcats which makes it easy to call
them my family and to call Ohio University home.

KelseyCrowley

  Kelsey
  Major: Communication Studies
  Class Rank: Junior
  Hometown: Chardon, Ohio

Best advice for prospective students: Network the heck out of yourselves while you're here.
There is no better time to start marketing yourselves than right now with so many people around you
who know so many other people. One thing could lead to another and wham! You have your dream job.

The best part about living in Athens: It has the college town feel, which makes for the perfect college
  experience!

I am most proud of: The amount of networking I have done here. It's a lot easier to talk to people
here than I thought at first.

LainaCulley

  Laina
  Major: Integrated Arts Education
  Class Rank: Junior
  Hometown: Brecksville, Ohio

My favorite OHIO moment: My favorite OHIO moment was at the first football game of freshman year.
I'm on the Ohio University Dance Team, and I entered Peden Stadium for the first time as a part of the
action. Being on that field surrounded by my giant Bobcat family was and is the most amazing feeling.

Best professor or class I have had: Loreen Giese. She knew that I was having a bad day and she called
me later that night to make sure that I was doing all right. She even offered to come get me from my
residence hall if I needed something. She's not only an amazing woman, but she is a brilliant professor.

Best advice I have for prospective students: Don't be afraid to ask questions! We are here to help you
figure out if this school is right for you!

MarissaFarray
  Marissa
  Major:Health Services and Administration
  Class Rank: Junior
  Hometown: Mentor, Ohio

My favorite Green on campus would have to be: College Green. It is the first and oldest part of the
campus. Before visiting Ohio University, I had seen so many pictures of College Green and when I finally
visited, I thought the green was even more beautiful than the pictures.

The main reason I came to Ohio University: I transferred to Ohio University because I felt right at home
the second I walked onto the campus. I loved the idea of being in a college town and I was amazed at how
friendly everyone was. You could easily see that students were proud to be Bobcats. And I wanted to have
that kind of pride in my future college.

My favorite place to grab a bite to eat in Athens would be: Uptown Athens food is the best food! But I
think my absolute favorite place to eat is Bagel Street Deli.

MathhewHart
  Matthew
  Major: Mechanical Engineering
  Class Rank: Senior
  Hometown: Newark, Ohio

When I came to college I wish I would have known: How to be more self-reliant.

A perfect day in Athens would be: Wake up, grab some breakfast at the Union Street Diner, bike to
Strouds Run State Park, take a small hike to a deserted area overlooking the lake and eat lunch, bike back
to my apartment, shower, and kick back and relax by watching a movie or a football game with some friends.

Clubs I joined at OHIO: Campus Crusade for Christ, Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, and
  Campus Recreation Club.

MegenEagle
  Megan
  Major: Journalism Strategic Communication
  Class Rank: Sophomore
  Hometown: Ashland, Ohio

Best advice I have for prospective students: Find the school that you feel most comfortable with.
Don't pick a school because of your friends or family, pick the school where you see yourself happily
spending the next four years. I wake up every day happy that I'm a Bobcat, and it's a feeling that
everyone should have about their school.

When I came to college I wish I would have known: That it's okay to not join everything. While
getting involved is good, getting OVER involved isn't. I joined so much at first that the extracurricular
activities I was in took over my life. Make sure you find a good balance

Favorite place to study or get away on campus: My favorite place to study on campus is the sixth and
sevebth floors of Alden Library. I frequently need to take study breaks, and searching through the numerous
books on the floors is the perfect way to take a quick (or not so quick) break from studying!

MollyCornish
  Molly
  Major: Communication Studies
  Class Rank: Senior
  Hometown: LaGrange, Ohio

My favorite OHIO moment: Homecoming each year! I love being able to reconnect with all the alumni
and celebrate! The whole university becomes electrified that week, and it's a really exciting time filled
  with tons of events.

The main reason I came to Ohio University: I fell in love with the campus as soon as I arrived. The
brick roads and beautiful scenery were my selling point, and I loved the feeling I got on campus. I describe
it as my "say yes to the dress" feeling.

I am most proud of: I am most proud of my peers. Each day I realize how proud I am of all my friends
here at Ohio University, and how much of a difference they make in my life, as well as the lives of others.
We all have so much to be proud of, and bright futures ahead!
