Special Transfer Procedures & Deadlines Listed below are the special procedures and deadline(s) if applicable for each selective transfer program at Ohio University. Contact the appropriate college, school or department for more information about transferring into that program.
College of Business: Bachelor of Business Administration
Applicants must have a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. Additionally, applicants must have completed courses equivalent to the following for direct admission:
MATH 1350 Survey of Calculus
ENG 1510 Writing and Rhetoric I
ECON 1030 Principles of Microeconomics or
ECON 1040 Principles of Macroeconomics
Scripps College of Communication: E. W. Scripps School of Journalism
Applicants must have completed 30 semester or 45 quarter hours, with a minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. All applicants meeting these criteria are initially admitted to University College as Undecided-Intending Journalism. Applicants must submit the supplemental application and additional materials available online at www.scrippsjschool.org/about/admission.php or by contacting the School of Journalism by the deadlines: September 28 spring semester; February 15 fall semester.
Scripps College of Communication: School of Visual Communication
Applicants must have completed at least 32 semester or 48 quarter hours, with a minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. All applicants meeting these requirements are initially admitted to University College as Undecided-Intending Visual Communication. Applicants must submit additional materials available online at www.viscom.ohiou.edu or by contacting the School of Visual Communication.
Scripps College of Communication: School of Media Arts & Studies
Applicants must have completed at least 30 semester or 45 quarter hours, with a minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for direct admission.
Scripps College of Communication: McClure School of Information and Telecommunication Systems
Applicants must have completed at least 32 semester or 48 quarter hours, with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for direct admission.
Patton College of Education: Teacher Education
Applicants must have completed at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for direct admission.
College of Fine Arts: School of Dance
Applicants must have completed at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. An audition is required for admission to the School of Dance. Students are initially admitted as Undecided pending the results of the audition.
College of Fine Arts: School of Music
Applicants must have completed at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. An audition is required for admission to the School of Music.Students are initially admitted as Undecided pending the results of the audition.
College of Health Sciences and Professions: Athletic Training
Applicants must have completed at least 20 semester or 30 quarter hours with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Applicants meeting these admission criteria are initially admitted as Pre-Athletic Training. For more information regarding the pre-major to major application process as a student, please visit the Undergraduate Catalog.
Students who have been previously enrolled in an athletic training program at another regionally accredited institution may qualify for direct admission into the Athletic Training major. Applicants are initially admitted as a pre-athletic training major and then complete the supplemental ATP Transfer Student Application. Admission is selective and not guaranteed. College of Health Sciences and Professions: Nursing
Applicants must have a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale. All applicants meeting these admission criteria are initially admitted as Pre-Nursing. Russ College of Engineering and Technology: Engineering and Computer Science
Applicants must have completed 20 semester or 30 quarter hours with a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Additionally, applicants must have completed the following equivalent pre-requisites with a "C" or better:
MATH 1200 College Algebra
and science equivalent or higher than
CHEM 1210 Principles of Chemistry or
PHYS 2051 General Physics
Students applying to Aviation or Industrial Technology will be reviewed under general admission guidelines.
University College: Criminal Justice
Applicants must have completed an associate's degree in a related field and have a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale. All applicants are initially admitted to University College as Undecided. Applicants must complete the supplemental application available at:

University College: Bachelor of Specialized Studies
Applicants meeting general university admission criteria interested in Specialized Studies are initially admitted to University College as Undecided. Applicants must complete the supplemental application available at:
