Honors Tutorial College
The most selective of Ohio University's nine undergraduate colleges, the Honors Tutorial College (HTC) is much more than an honors program. Rather, it is the oldest, largest, and most academically diverse degree-granting tutorial college in the country. Based on the Oxbridge systems of tutorial education developed in England, it gives highly motivated, talented students the opportunity to receive a substantial part of their education through tutorials, one-on-one classes or small seminars.
In addition to the Honors Tutorial College, a variety of other opportunities for scholarly recognition exist across the university as well. The list below details some of our most competitive and distinctive scholars programs:
Copeland Scholars
Qualified high school seniors enrolled in the College of Business are invited to compete for acceptance into the Copeland Scholars Program. Students receive a freshman year stipend, interact with a senior business faculty member on a weekly basis, and organize and participate in leadership activities.
Ohio Business Fellows
Students designated as Copeland Scholars have the opportunity to become Ohio Business Fellows for the remainder of their undergraduate careers in the college. Similar to the Copeland Scholars Program, Ohio Business Fellows continue to develop and achieve personal and professional academic goals.
Stocker Scholars
Qualified high school seniors enrolled in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology are invited to compete for acceptance into the Stocker Scholars Program. Invitation is based upon a combination of class standing or GPA and ACT or SAT scores. Students participate in a team design competition that is usually held on a Saturday in late February. Participants are evaluated based upon their leadership, creativity, problem-solving ability, and teamwork.
Cutler Scholars Program
Students do not apply for this highly-selective scholarship program, but rather are nominated by their high school or an Ohio University alumni chapter. In addition, students come from particular locations or high schools, or intend to major in specific fields of study. This endowed program provides tuition, fees, and room and board for the academic year as well as funds for a structured summer internship or related experience.
King/Chavez/Parks Award Program
The King-Chavez-Parks Award Program promotes personal, social, cultural and academic excellence as well as professional development for talented students from disproportionately represented populations. Through creative programs and faculty mentored research, scholarship, creativity, and character education, recipients of the KCP Award take full advantage of the academic experience at Ohio.
Templeton Scholars Program
One of the most competitive and distinctive programs at Ohio University, the Templeton Scholars Program provides valuable educational opportunities designed to enrich the intellectual experiences of talented students from disproportionately represented populations. Templeton Scholars are deeply engaged and enriched by a variety of intellectual and cultural opportunities to delve into the areas of politics, humanities, economics, science, arts and the environment - just to name a few. In addition, research, service and student-led discussions will be a core part of your experience as a selected scholar.
Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC
Qualified students participating in the Air Force or Army ROTC programs can compete for one-to-four-year scholarships, which pay tuition costs, lab fees and a flat rate for books. Students also receive a monthly subsistence allowance.
