All students admitted by March 1, 2012 (deadline extended!) will be considered automatically for the Gateway Award Program.
Ohio University is committed to providing access to higher education and to recognizing the scholastic achievements of our incoming students. The Gateway Award Program is our premier scholarship program for first year students and includes the full in-state tuition Gateway Excellence Scholarship. The program is designed to blend merit and need-based aid to eligible students.
The Gateway Award Program is applicable to first-year students who are new to the Athens campus of Ohio University in fall 2012.
Eligibility is based on a sliding scale of academic merit, as determined by g.p.a. and either the ACT composite or SAT math and critical reading scores from any test date (writing subscore not included for ACT or SAT) on file as of March 1, 2012; and financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
The program is comprised of five awards:

| Gateway Excellence Scholarship |
Four-year renewable scholarships valued at in-state tuition. To be eligible, students must earn a minimum g.p.a. of 3.0 (4.0 scale), AND either a minimum ACT composite score of 32 or a combined math and critical reading SAT score of at least 1400. |
| Gateway Scholarship |
Four-year renewable scholarship based on academic merit. Award amounts vary. See the chart below for award values. |
| Gateway Grant |
Four-year renewable grant based on a sliding scale of both academic merit and need. Award amounts vary. |
| Gateway Trustee Award |
Four-year renewable discount of $6,000 applied to the non-Ohio resident surcharge. To be eligible, students must earn a minimum g.p.a. of 3.0 (4.0 scale), AND either a minimum ACT composite score of 25 or a combined math and critical reading SAT score of at least 1130. |
| Ohio University Bobcat Grant |
Awarded to students with the highest need as demonstrated by the FAFSA, without merit consideration. |

Students participating in the Ohio University Educational Benefits Program and recipients of the Appalachian Scholars Award, Urban Scholars Award or a full athletic scholarship are not eligible to be considered for the Gateway Award Program. Recipients of the Templeton Scholars Award, King/Chavez/Parks Award or OU Incentive Award are eligible to be considered for the Gateway Trustee Award only. Recipients of the District of Columbia (D.C.) Tuition Assistance Grant, which covers non-resident fees, are not eligible for the Gateway Trustee Award.
