The most selective of Ohio University's nine undergraduate colleges, the Honor's Tutorial College is the oldest, largest, and most academically diverse degree-only degree-granting college in the country. Based on the Oxbridge systems of tutorial education developed in England, it offers highly motivated, talented students the opportunity to receive a substantial part of their education through tutorials (one-on-one classes or small seminars). There are generally 220 students in the Honors Tutorial College spread over 28 programs of study. To preserve the tutorial experience, HTC enrolls only about 60 new students each year, and admission is highly competitive.

Degrees
Degrees conferred by the college include the Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Science in Journalism, Bachelor of Science in Communication, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Bachelor of Business Administration.

Special Admission Requirements and Deadline
The admissions climate in the Honors Tutorial College is highly competitive. Each application receives at least two reviews, and a variety of elements inform admission decisions.

Applicants must complete the Honors Tutorial College Application Supplement, which is available as part of the standard Ohio University application form, both on paper and online. In the section marked "College," applicants must select Honors Tutorial College, and in the section for "Major" applicants must select or enter the special HTC major code for the appropriate program they wish to apply to. There is no undecided option in the Honors Tutorial College.

In addition to the application form and fee, applicants must supply current high school transcripts, standardized test scores (ACT and/or SAT), and a senior year schedule of classes. Students who are successful at gaining admission to the college generally also supply supporting information beyond the minimum requirements outlined above. Submissions of writing samples, a creative portfolio and/or letters of recommendation from teacher or members of the community are strongly encouraged.

All required and optional materials must be received at the address below no later than December 1:

Special Programs and Opportunities
Through flexibility, mentoring and abundant academic resources, the Honors Tutorial College aims to give high ability students every opportunity to further their intellectual development. College requirements are kept to a minimum in order to allow students to explore a range of disciplines, engage in substantial creative and/or research work, acquire a high degree of proficiency in a particular subject matter, and participate in meaningful extracurricular activities. Tutorials allow individuals to work closely with accomplished scholars who take particular pride in helping Honors Tutorial College students fulfill their current and future ambitions.

This special combination of freedom and guidance, which is one of the hallmarks of the college, is enhanced by the number of exclusive academic resources made available to its students. These include priority registration, special residence hall availability, enhanced library privileges, research support, eligibility to undertake graduate work, unique education abroad opportunities, and scholarship availability.

The Honors Tutorial College has earned a reputation for graduate and professional school placement in the best national and international schools.
