Governor Taft Announces Appointments to Ohio
University Board of Trustees

Snyder and Deland D. Basora have been named to the
Ohio
University Board of
Trustees.
Governor Bob Taft announced the appointments Friday, May
14.
Lakewood
resident Snyder will replace Paul Leonard of Dayton, whose
term expired this year. Snyder is the chairman and chief
executive officer of Crooked River Brewing Co. and president
of Quest Investments. He graduated cum laude from Ohio
University and will serve until his term expires in 2008.
Snyder is a member of the university's Executive Advisory
Board and Foundation Board, and is a trustee of the Great
Lakes Science Center. Mr. Snyder has also established
scholarship funds at Ohio University's College
of Business.
Basora
will be replacing Erik Roush as one of two student trustees
who sit on the Board. He is a sophomore marketing major with
a minor in interpersonal
communications.
Basora is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta honorary and Beta
Theta Pi and is the recipient of a Dean's List
scholarship.
According
to a press release from the governor's office, "the Board of
Trustees has the authority to hire, set compensation of, and
remove the president and such number of professors, teachers
and other employees as may be deemed necessary by the board.
The board shall do all things necessary to insure the
university is properly maintained and operates on a
successful and continuous basis. Members are compensated for
expenses only."
There are
nine Ohio University Trustees who serve eight-year terms.
The Board is completed by two student trustees, who serve
two-year terms.
